Episode 14: Our shows from the 1980s (part 2) episode

Greetings fellow Sackvillians and friends of Sackville!

Welcome to Episode 14 of Stories from Sackville.

In today’s episode, we complete a two part discussion about some favourite television shows from the 1980s. We discuss two more tv shows from the 1980s (we’re not gonna tell you which ones – you’ll have to listen).

Steve goes all nerdy and academic talking about his love of philosophical discussions, and Peter takes us down a Thursday night rabbit hole.

As always, we hope that this stimulates more discussion, so we encourage you all to tell us, on the Facebook page, what were some of your favourite tv shows and your thoughts on the two shows we discuss this week.

And, as always, thanks to all of you who have commented so far.

You can e-mail us with questions, suggestions, or comments at: storiesfromsackville@gmail.com.

Episode 13: Our tv shows of the 1980s (part 1) episode

Greetings fellow Sackvillians and friends of Sackville!

Welcome to Episode 13 of Stories from Sackville.

In today’s episode, we begin a two part discussion about some favourite television shows from the 1980s. As with episodes 2 and 3 (on tv shows of the 1970s), we’ve decided to pick four television shows (we’re not gonna tell you which ones – you’ll have to listen); we’ll talk about two in this episode and the other two in Episode 14.

Steve talks about historical inaccuracies and World War Two. He also reveals a bit of self-plagiarism on the part of one television writer.

Peter talks about one of the iconic television shows and characters of the 1980s. Sun, cars, and Vietnam are just some of the topics he touches on.

Epsiode 12: Our female heartthrobs Episode

Greetings fellow Sackvillians and friends of Sackville!

Welcome to Episode 12 of Stories from Sackville.

In this episode, we explore the world of the female teenage heartthrobs. Lynda Carter, Farrah Fawcett (-Majors), Tatum O'Neal, Kirsty McNicol, Molly Ringwald. If they made the hearts if teenage boys (and some girls too) beat a little faster, we discuss them.

Just as a warning, this episode does have some clips that feature content of a sexual nature.

Peter tries to explain the difference between how we saw female heartthrobs of the time and how we saw male heartthrobs.

Steve manages to end the episode on a creepy note.

As always, we hope that this stimulates more discussion, so we encourage you all to tell us, on the Facebook page, stories about your favourite heartthobs. Did we miss someone? We probably did.

And, as always, thanks to all of you who have commented so far.

You can e-mail us with questions, suggestions, or comments at: storiesfromsackville@gmail.com, and you can find us on the Stories From Sackville Facebook page.

Episode 11: Our male heartthrobs Episode

Greetings fellow Sackvillians and friends of Sackville!

Welcome to Episode 11 of Stories from Sackville.

In this episode, we explore the world of the male teenage heartthrob. Leif Garrett, Scott Baio, Shaun Cassidy, David Cassidy. If they made the hearts if teenage girls (and some boys too) beat a little faster, we discuss them.

Steve tells a story about meeting Richard Hatch (which some of you may have already heard). He also drops some cool Columbo trivia (all Columbo trivia is cool) and makes a stray Diff'rent Strokes reference apropos of nothing really.

Peter name drops the Best Episode Ever podcast with Dave Brodbeck, Anthony Marco, and Greg David. We also recommend the Stuck in the 80s podcast.

Steve's wife gets a shoutout as does Sandra Currie-Samson.

As always, we hope that this stimulates more discussion, so we encourage you all to tell us, on the Facebook page, stories about your favourite heartthobs. Did we miss someone?

And, as always, thanks to all of you who have commented so far.
